The Center for Outcome Measurement in Brain Injury (COMBI) is a collaborative project of the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR), now the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR) funded Traumatic Brain Injury Model Systems. The COMBI is a project of the current funding cycle for NIDRR TBI Model Systems (2007-2012). The COMBI is coordinated at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center.
The COMBI had a bulletin board system between 2000 and 2011. This was discontinued due to misuse (spam) and lack of posts. Existing questions and responses will be incorporated into the frequently asked question sections.
For each supported measure there is syllabus and training information, rating forms, background information on validity and reliability, a reference list of published studies, and testing materials. A FAQ (Frequently Asked Question) section is also included, compiled from past training information and questions emailed to us.
Starting in January 2012, COMBI has partnered with the Journal of Head Trauma Rehabilitation (JHTR) to provide a new JHTR feature called 'Tools for Clinical Use.' The recurring feature will include profiles and updates on validated, standardized instruments from the COMBI. JHTR readers will have regular updates of both existing scales and new additions to the COMBI.
We hope you find the COMBI a valuable resource. Please feel free to email us with suggestions or contributions. Contact Mr. Ben Dirlikov at
